Walking Weekends

Walking Weekends offers one of the ultimate short break holidays; a few days away from the pressure of everyday life, walking in the clean air of the Alps, with some of the most interesting and varied walking in Europe. In the evening be revitalised by Marie's reknowned cooking, the free flowing wine, the lively conversation around our supper table and the general warmth and comfort of our chalet. Retire pleasantly exhausted to bed to recharge the batteries, to be up bright and early ready to attack the next day's walking.

We are only a short travelling distance from the UK! Low cost airlines now fly into Geneva from all corners of the UK and we are only a fifty minute transfer time from the airport. So in far less time than it takes to drive from London to the Lake District, or Manchester to the Scottish Highlands, you can be in the heart of the Alps, gazing up at the majestic Mont Blanc and it's glaciers. And it will probably cost you a lot less as well!

How It Works:

bus1.jpg We pick you up from Geneva Airport, (or station,if you prefer,) transport you back to our chalet in St Gervais, and get you settled into to your room. If you arrive early enough, we will suggest a local walk for the afternoon, give you a map and set you off in the right direction. In the evening, either during the aperitif that we offer before eating, or while relaxing after supper, we will make suggestions for walks for the next day, taking into account weather conditions and what people would like to do. The next morning after breakfast we will supply you with a picnic lunch and a map and transport you to the start of your walk for the day. This might be a circular walk or linear walk, and could be up to a 35 minute drive away. If there are different levels of walkers in the group, there may be different start and finish points for the varied abilities, but all the walks will be roughly in the same area. Pick-ups from different walks will be all at around the same time of day.

2007a.jpgAfter walking, we will return you to La Vieille Ferme, probably stopping off for a well earned beer on the way back. A cup of tea, biscuits and cake will be awaiting you at the chalet (as long as we have not spent too long in the bar), and then there will be time for a relaxing soak in the bath and maybe even another beer or a glass of wine from our bar! It is at this moment that we often hear the euphemism, ' Just going to read my book for a while', and the chalet then goes really quiet! Aperitif, supper, and then coffee or tea winds up the day for most people, pleasantly tired and relaxed by the excercise, the altitude and the mountain air.

At the end of your stay, we will return you to the airport in good time for your flight, hopefully relaxed, bronzed and fit, probably physically tired, but with the feeling that you have been away a lot longer than a few days!
