Col du Tricot

Col du Tricot. Starting from the hamlet of Le Champel (1200 m.), just across the Montjoie valley from our chalet, this walk follows the track up the south side of the Bionnassey valley to emerge by the foot of the Bionnassey glacier (1760 m.). A slight detour brings you to Himalayan style footbridge that spans the rushing torrent below the tongue of the glacier. Climbing up through the Combe du Tricot, the views above of the Bionnassey glacier and the Aiguille du Gouter on the Mont Blanc massif are breathtaking. An hour of steady walking brings you to the Col du Tricot (2120 m.) The path winds down from the Col into the lovely Miage valley, dominated by the Domes de Miage peaks, from where it is a 45 minute walk round the flank of Mont Vorrassey back to Le Champel.
